Frequently Asked Questions

Celtic Boilers

Q: I understand that HydroTherm no longer offers the Celtic boiler in their product line. Will I have a problem getting replacement parts in the future?

A: It is true that HydroTherm no longer offers Celtic repair parts, however, SJGH has a contractual agreement with the original manufacturer in France and their agent here in the US, CelticParts.com. SJGH will have Celtic parts available to them through CelticParts.com for many years to come.

Q: Are Celtic boilers reliable?

A: When maintained properly, the Celtic can provide many years of uninterrupted service. The Celtic does have moving parts that, in time, will need replacement. Regularly scheduled maintenance can prolong the life of these items.

Q: Can anyone repair a Celtic Boiler?

A: No!! The Celtic is unlike any other piece of heating equipment. HydroTherm recommends only factory trained technicians service Celtic boilers.

Q: My local gas utility offers low cost service contracts on heating equipment. Should I take advantage of this offer for my Celtic Boiler?

A: No! Utility contracts are very limited as to the parts and services they cover, and their servicemen are not experienced in the repair of unique equipment such as the Celtic. Utility contracts offer NO preventive maintenance, which means you can expect equipment failures. Equipment failures mean COLD nights!

Q: Sometimes I see water underneath the boiler. Is this normal?

A: No!! This could be evidence of the air vent assembly or the relief valve leaking. It could also be a sign of something more serious and should be inspected by a trained service technician immediately.

Q: Who should I call when my Celtic boiler needs service?

A: SJG Heating Service, Inc.

Pulse Boilers

Q: My boiler is excessively loud...is there anything that can make it less noisy?

A: There is an operating noise associated with all Pulse boilers. However, if a boiler is not running properly it may be louder than it should be normally. Proper service may allow a Pulse boiler to operate more efficiently and less noisily.

Q: The bottom of my boiler is rusted and sometimes I see water on the floor...is this serious?

A: It may be that the base of the boiler is leaking. The base may also leak exhaust gases which could be harmful to people and pets. The base should be inspected and changed if necessary.

Q: Are Pulse boilers reliable?

A: When maintained properly Pulse boilers will provide many years of uninterrupted service. Pulse boilers are the safest and most efficient boiler available...period.

Q: Can anyone repair a Pulse Boiler?

A: No!! The factory allows only factory trained contractors to service Pulse boilers. This is a requirement of the factory warranty!

Q: My local gas utility offers low cost service contracts on heating equipment. Should I take advantage of this offer for my HydroPulse Boiler?

A: No! Utility contracts are very limited as to the parts and services they cover, and their servicemen are NOT "factory certified" in the service of Pulse Boilers. This means you may be voiding your warranty! Utility contracts offer no preventive maintenance, which means you can expect equipment failures. Equipment failures mean COLD nights!

Q: How often does my Pulse boiler need to be serviced?

A: The factory recommends all Pulse boilers be "tuned-up" every five years. However, there are additional heating system maintenance issues which should be addressed annually.

Q: Who should I call when my Pulse boiler needs service?

A: SJG Heating Service, Inc.
